My research covers the topic of biobased pyrolysis oils produced from industrial residues and its potential application for advanced biofuel production. A current challange for industrial application of such feedstock is the presence of low concentrations of metals that naturally occurs in biomass. This causes deactivation of catalysts in the refining process of biofuel. I'm specifically studying the reduction of these metal concentrations from the biobased pyrolysis oil. The possible expansion of feedstocks for biofuel production together with other biobased feedstock (such as tall oil) is one step closer to a fossil-free transport sector.
